If you have spent any time listening to the radio, I am sure you will be familiar with the name Rush Limbaugh. Rush had an extremely popular show on WABC radio, and was the staple voice from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. every weekday, followed by Sean Hannity from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and finishing with Mark Levin from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Rush had a longtime sidekick named Bo Snerdley, and frequently talked to him during the broadcast. Bo was his right-hand man. Bo Snerdley, as I came to find out, was a real person whose actual name is James Golden. He is now the radio host of “The Rush Hour” and was the longtime producer of the original Rush Limbaugh show. My wife and I had the opportunity to meet James at his house and share a special moment with him… one that I will never forget.
Ready?
I was hit with the COVID virus back in August 2021, and ended up in the ER. I could barely breathe. They were giving me 40 liters of pure oxygen, and it wasn’t making a dent. My oxygen levels, which should be in the 90s, had dropped down to 42. My wife requested that she give me a dose of Ivermectin, and they denied her request. With the way things were going, it was just a matter of time before I was going to meet Jesus. People were dying all around me, and I saw covered bodies getting wheeled past my room every day.
Here comes a total God moment. My wife had also contracted COVID, but thankfully it did not affect her in the same way. We had changed our general practitioner about 30 days before we were hit with the virus. We felt that we were just a flow of income for our current doctor, so based on a recommendation, we switched to a new practitioner.
My wife had a telehealth appointment with the new doctor, and during the appointment he asked how I was doing. My wife told him I was in the ER, and how she had tried to get Ivermectin to me, but they had refused to allow it. He asked for the name of the doctor that had refused it, and he said, “I know him. I used to work with him for 17 years. Let me make a call.”
Unbelievable. What are the chances that the doctor we had just switched to had a direct relationship with the doctor in charge of me in the ER? I give all the credit to God.
Our new practitioner was able to talk to the doctor in charge and got him to allow a single dose of Ivermectin. Anita didn’t have enough for the dose I would need, so the family sent out a request to their contacts. Someone that none of us even knew reached out and said that if Anita wanted the dose, they would be waiting at a certain corner of their neighborhood a few towns over from us at 10 p.m. that evening.
People have likened it to an actual drug deal… meeting at the corner with a bag of medicine. Anita pulled up and the person standing there said, “Are you Anita?” and the handoff was made.
Anita brought the dose to the hospital at 11 p.m. that night. After taking the dose, the nurses took my oxygen levels at 4 a.m. the next morning.
93.
Anita took it upon herself to find a way to get me a second dose (with a great dose of ingenuity, I might add). I was out of the hospital within the week. God is indeed good.
Anita then started the Frontline Community Care Network, or “FLCCN,” to help people get information on how to properly deal with the COVID virus and keep their families healthy. She later joined with Dr. Cindy, who saw our website and wanted to help.
Dr. Cindy had the opportunity to deal with several high-level people, including James Golden, aka Bo Snerdley. James invited Cindy, my wife, and me to a special dinner at his house. We immediately agreed to this “golden” opportunity.
I was blown away by the full wall, filled from floor to ceiling with records. What a collection. I had an amazing time talking with James, and relayed my background as a music major and lead trumpet in the university jazz band, and how we had the opportunity to play at a special event for none other than then-Vice President Dan Quayle, which is a whole other story…
When I told James how I played the trumpet back in the day, he looked at me and said, “Come with me.” He led me up the stairs to his private office and pointed at a case on his desk. He said, “Open it up.” I opened the case to find a beautiful trumpet. James then said, “Go ahead. Show me what you got.”
I have to tell you, I was just laughing at this. I’m in the private office of James Golden, and he is asking me to play his trumpet, which I had not played a note on in probably around 30 years.
I took it out and was able to bring back some jazz licks from who knows where. My lips were quickly turning to mush, but I was able to show him that I indeed used to play.
He then told me that he would never be able to play like that, and that he wanted me to have the trumpet. I immediately said I couldn’t possibly take his trumpet from him, but he kept insisting that he wanted me to have it, and that he would be disrespected if I declined his gift.
So I have James Golden’s golden trumpet in my media room. I have been able to see James for a second visit at his house, and that first evening remains one of the most unexpected and memorable moments of my life.
